My husband and I were invited to a wedding that was held in Lincoln, New Hampshire at the Indian Head Resort. We decided to make a weekend out of it since it is about 3 hours from where we live! This post will discuss travel ideas: relaxing New England Weekend.
Lincoln, NH is about 3 hours or so away from where I live. We wanted to head up early to make the most of out our weekend getaway to celebrate love! When we arrived to the area, we went out for lunch at The Common Man restaurant which is out of this world! If you decide to take a trip to Lincoln or the surrounding area, you must give it a try. I had a great BBQ burger and my husband ordered a huge Cobb salad alongside our IPA and Sour beers.
After we checked into our resort, we headed to our room which had such a beautiful mountain view.
Come on, you cannot beat this view outside of your room, especially with the beginning of the Fall crisp air! HEAVEN!
Travel Ideas: Relaxing New England Weekend
The morning of the wedding my family and I decided to find a nearby trail to venture off to. We discovered The Flume Gorge which from photos and videos, it’s breathtaking. However, when we arrived we learned that it was $21 per person to enter so we decided to opt out of that. We pulled up our map and found “The Basin” which was a little ways down the road in the Franconia Notch. We are SO happy that we found this place because it
- was free, unlike the Flume Gorge
- was probably equally as beautiful as the Flume Gorge
- wasn’t as busy as the Flume Gorge
After we went for our hike, we stopped and got breakfast at Moose on the Run Cafe in Lincoln which was very good. We all split a huge cinnamon roll and each got some kind of sandwich or wraps. Their smoothies are really tasty too!
Once we got back to the resort we decided to lay out by the pool and hot tub. The resort has both indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs which we went back and forth to. It was such a great way to relax before the evening festivities began!
Again, what-a-view!
There are so many cute shops and places to check out while visiting Lincoln, NH including Clark’s Trading Post which we didn’t get to go to this time around.
