quinoa recipe

Quinoa can be spruced up any way that you wish. A simple quinoa recipe entails equal parts of quinoa and water. It is such a healthy option so it would be a great choice to experiment with to get different flavors. Continue to read on so you can learn how to make a simple and savory quinoa dish.

I wasn’t a fan of quinoa until later on in life. I always thought it was so ‘healthy,’ and it turned me off. Now, I embrace all ‘healthy’ foods and figured out ways to inject some spice and flavor into them! Quinoa is such a great side dish to accompany your main dinner but it can also be used in salads or breakfast meals.

You can cook quinoa on a stovetop, but my husband and I swear by our rice cooker and will normally use that instead. Rice cookers can be purchased anywhere but we got ours on Amazon. Here is one simple rice cooker that you can look into if you are in the market for purchasing one!

Quinoa Recipe: Sweet, Savory, & Zesty

Get either a pot to boil water or a rice cooker and put 1 cup of water and quinoa in it. If you want more quinoa you could always add 2 cups of water and 2 cups of quinoa.

Add salt and garlic powder to season as well as a little splash of olive oil.

Next, chop up a cherry pepper which has a kick to it. If you do not have that you can add a jalapeno instead or just a regular red pepper.

Let that boil and cook until the quinoa is nice and fluffy, or when the button pops up on the rice cooker.

Once the quinoa is finished cooking, throw in some chopped cilantro (or parsley if you do not that like) and top it off with cheese. You can omit this part if you don’t want cheesy quinoa. I really liked it and I only added a small amount.

That is how you can change up your typical quinoa recipe. If there are certain spices or peppers you don’t like then switch it out for something else. I love cooking and experimenting and what I love the most about it is that you don’t need to follow an exact recipe to get something tasty.
