‘Tis this season to be creative and this blog post is going to discuss exactly how to do that to kick off the holidays. Read on to to learn how to create your own wine glass DIY Christmas decorations. I hope that you find this post useful and inspirational so you can create your own. You can copy exactly what I did or just use it to create your own little character in the pictures.

My friends and I created wine glasses that resembled the grinch, a penguin, a gingerbread person, a mouse, and a Santa belt. There are so many holiday inspired characters that you could make on these wine glasses. This all started because I held a pancakes and pajamas party. During the party we created these wine glass characters. Read my pancakes and pajamas blog post so you could hold your own with friends and family during the holiday season.

For the purpose of this post I will just be talking about the wine glass DIY Christmas decorations. I really wanted to have an arts and crafts project during the party and how fun than to paint wine glasses and get a little festive. I decided personally to paint the Grinch and everyone painted their own. What I did was find pictures from Google and Pinterest to print and use it as inspiration for my guests. I think it’s a great idea to print out inspiration so everyone can take a look at it. They can figure out where to begin and which character they want to re-create.

How We Created Wine Glass DIY Christmas Decorations

I primed my glass with a base paint the night before the party so it was ready to decorate. For everyone else however, they needed to choose their own character, so when they arrived they started painting the base color of the wine glass right away. We continued with our pancakes and pajamas party while the glasses were drying. Once we finished eating was when we began decorating our wine glasses by adorning them with the most cutest, festive decorations.

I bought the adornments from Dollar Tree, Michael’s, and Hobby Lobby. Think ornaments, pipe cleaners, pom-poms, felt, googly eyes, and ribbon. I got different color Acrylic paints as well. Lastly, I found this really cool tea candle set from TJ Maxx. It was on clearance and I thought it was a perfect way to top the wine glasses off. The candle was inside of a sparkly beaded holder and went really well with the decoration. Some ladies decided to glue the candle base of the tea candle onto the top of the wine glass and some just placed it on top without adhering it.

If you want to speed up the drying process you can use a blow dryer to dry the paint in between each section you paint.

Wrapping It Up

As you can see everyone pretty much decided to choose a different character. There were a couple of duplicates and they came out super cute.
