As pictured, there are 10 bottles of seasoning, however I did not add paprika into my mix since I actually did not have it. Should you have it in your pantry, you can totally add this in. My mix was great without it so I don’t think it would make or break the flavor.

How to Make the 9 Ingredient DIY Taco Seasoning | Spicy Lime:

  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Cayenne
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Chile & Lime
  • Cumin
  • Oregano
  • Chili Powder
  • Paprika (optional)

Something that is different and not typical in a taco seasoning is the Chile & Lime. I wanted to give it a kick and different flavor so I thought to add this seasoning as I was eating it on my pineapple. THAT is a must try! That seasoning with any kind of fruit really elevates the flavors. Can I say yum?!

This blend can go well as a marinade, not just serve as a taco seasoning. If you would like to use it as a marinade just add some olive oil to it. It is great on chicken, beef, shrimp, and veggies, and even better when cooked on the grill!

What’s good about making your own blend is that you can control how much seasoning and sodium goes into it. That is the advantage you have over a taco seasoning packet. Don’t get me wrong, using a taco seasoning packet is much quicker, but probably by 45 seconds! Packets such at the Ortega taco seasoning has extra ingredients that you can do without. It’s nice to put something together when you already have the ingredients in your kitchen.
