I love making small, almost effortless changes that are low-cost, don’t you? This is a short and sweet post on how to refinish a bookcase for under $30 using an existing piece of furniture and an easy Amazon purchase. All you need is a little time and a couple of items to get your improved bookcase!
You can apply this type of project to any piece of furniture. I have purchased peel and stick wallpaper several times in the past which gave me this idea on how to improve the current bookcase I had. I decided to reuse an old bookcase that was no longer being used rather than purchasing a new bookcase. The bookcase belonged to my niece who had no use for it anymore so it was just hanging around the house.
The first time I did was place an order for the wallpaper with Amazon. There are so many options but this is the one that I went with:
How to Refinish a Bookcase for Under $30:
Once I received the wallpaper in the mail, I measured the areas of the bookcase that I wanted to cover. After that, I cut each piece to size and peeled and stuck it onto the backing of the bookcase. The last part of the upgrade was to paint the bottom because I did not want pink for my son’s bookcase, although I am totally for gender neutral colors!
The best part was seeing the end result with all of his books and little toys in it. This kid has over 100 books and wasn’t even 100 days old! And there you have it, an upgraded bookcase, or any piece of furniture that you’re creative mind desires! It was a simple DIY that I know you can do.
